Mayworks is excited to announce Djenabé Edouard as guest curator for the 2023 Festival.

From an open call for submissions, Djenabé Edouard has been selected as the Mayworks’ guest curator to put together an exhibition of three artists for the next Mayworks Festival.

"I am beyond excited to collaborate with the Mayworks team to curate an impactful exhibition that celebrates the stories of immigration, labour and legacy,” said Edouard. “This is a rare opportunity for me to cultivate an artful space of belonging and reminiscence for the Afro Caribbean community. To share memories as a conscious act of reclamation, and merge the worlds of here and home."

Mayworks welcomes her curatorial vision where she is keen on preserving oral histories, and sparking conversations that examine contemporary perspectives of the Afro-Caribbean experience.

As a Toronto-based multidisciplinary artist and writer specializing in photography and production, she has organically emerged into the curatorial world through a unique collection of performance art activations, interactive installations and a print photography publication.
